This Week At Chez Helen's

I contributed fresh cantaloupe-ginger-cinnamon juice, Farrah contributed smoked salmon, avocado, and saut√©ed spinach-pesto bites and Helen made fresh brown bread from scratch the morning of.... 

For tea, I made us a pecan and blue cheese pastry with fig preserves that morning, as well.

As always, plenty of Cousin Peter's homemade plum jam and Dubliner cheese on hand.

Spicy Salsa Verde




I made this last night, let it sit overnight. The increase in spicyness after I blended it this morning took me by surprise. The loads of lemon and garlic with the heat of the peppers makes it so you can't stop eating it, but warning- it'll make for a bit of fire in your mouth:

4 roasted tomatillos
2-3 roasted poblano chiles, depending on your personal level of masochism (I used 2 and it's a hot kick)
3 roasted cloves garlic
An entire medium lemon
Salt
Fresh ground pepper
Cumin, I did like 4 or 5 generous shakes
Like 8 cherry tomatos
Dash olive oil
2 or 3 pinches of fresh cilantro leaves can be a nice touch, but I didn't feel like it for this batch

Blend it up and you're ready to snack on fire.

Cauliflower Buffalo Wings

Poots sent me this recipe and I haven't stopped thinking of it since. Just waiting for the right moment to make these since eating a cookie sheet of them on my own is a little much.
While I am following the recipe on Edible Mosaic the original recipe can be attributed to this lady over here, Shelbi Keith. Genius. It's taken over my mind and my grocery list...

Update:  You don't need the butter, the Frank's Hot Sauce alone is fine....  It's actually a bit disgusting with the butter.
